Forum Find Feature ~ Crafts for a Cure

This weekend I found a really nice shop while browsing the forums: CraftsforaCure . I asked Elizabeth to tell us a little about herself and her mom. craftfroa cure

My shop exists for one reason and that was to raise funds for the Breast Cancer 3-Day and I'm deeply passionate about finding a cure for breast cancer. curesaMy mom is a survivor and my hero in so many ways since she raised my brother and me after my dad died when I was 6 years old. I was 26 when my mom was diagnosed and had to face the possibility of losing my mom to breast cancer. When mom was in treatment, I would travel home to help take care of her and when she was feeling good, I would help her make cards and eventually I started to create my own cards.

After her treatments were complete, I become more active with Susan G. Komen and the Breast Cancer 3-Day (soon to be called Susan G. Komen 3-Day for a Cure) and after spending countless hours volunteering my time, I finally decided to walk in the 2009 Boston 3-Day with my mom. To help raise the required $2300, I opened my Etsy store and began selling my cards, scrapbooks and scarves.
With this year's walk complete, all proceeds now benefit my fundraising efforts to walk in the 2010 Chicago 3-Day.

I would like to thank Elizabeth for sharing and would like YOU to go check out her shop and support her and her mother and all the other women out there!

Here are some pictures of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Grandville, Michigan that we did last year.

Great cause! I have a lot of friends who do the 3 day and it's wonderful to see how strong these women are.
